Why use this compressor
Most online tools upload your pictures to someone else's server. This one does the work inside your browser with the canvas API, so private photos, ID scans and client files stay on your device. It also works offline once the page has loaded.
Questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Compression happens locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to us.
What quality setting should I use?
For web photos, 70 to 80 usually cuts the file size a lot with little visible change. Below 50 you may see blocky artifacts. Use 90 or higher for images you plan to edit again.
Why did my file get bigger?
If the original was already heavily compressed, saving it again at a high quality can make it larger. Lower the quality or reduce the max width. The tool will not offer a result larger than your original without telling you.
Does it remove EXIF data like location?
Yes. Re-encoding through the browser drops EXIF metadata, including GPS location and camera details.
Is it free?
Yes, with no limit on the number of images.
